I’d like to talk about a great resource that I’ve found for the street level salesperson and smaller office. Ever since I’ve been in the business there’s only been one active place for MLS’s (merchant level salespeople) to collaborate and ask questions about the business. Since that place is a direct competitor to Transaction World I’ll call them X.
X has provided a lot of great information to the MLS over the years, but it has also changed a lot. Either way there’s finally a new alternative in town called www.mlswarriors.com.
It’s an online interactive forum designed primarily for the salespeople in the business. One of the unique things to this forum is that it wasn’t designed to make money and it accepts no
advertisers. In my opinion there have been many entities that have
popped up to represent or help the MLS only to become slaves to the ISO’s & Processor’s cash. Let’s face it when a tobacco company gives a congressman money to get elected, that congressman will usually protect the interests of that company and not bite the hand that feeds them. Hey that’s human nature and probably good business. It sure does seem to get a lot of BOZOs re-elected. Because the warrior forum is not beholden to anyone, I’ve noticed a lot more opposing opinions expressed. That’s putting it nicely; let’s say it can be a rough place to be if you have thin skin.
Secondly the forum sponsors educational conference calls bringing in industry experts. Yes it’s all free and can really help you grow your business. Each of the calls are recorded and made available for download at your convenience. They’ve done topics on prospecting and cold calling and most recently they’ve arranged to have Adam Atlas, a prominent industry attorney, on a conference call to answer questions
for FREE. I’ll bet Adam gets $400 an hour, so if he spends 2
minutes answering your question that’s $13 in legal advice. The best part is the guy really knows his stuff.
At the time of this writing there were about 400 registered users in the MLS Warrior forum. Overall I’ve found it a great place to go and
get a slightly different prospective with some real hands on tools.
I want to make it really clear I’m not in any way endorsing this service. I just think that competition is good and in this business the more clarity and straight talk you can get the better. In order to get a real clear picture I’ve found you have to read between the lines. n
